Les Miserables (School Edition) Youth Roles Update 3/24/24
Thank you to all who auditioned! We are so thankful for your courage and preparation. Below is the current update for the casting of the youth roles in our upcoming production of Les Mis (School Edition). Once the final cast list is posted, we will have a full rehearsal schedule for the students cast. 

The final callbacks for the younger girl roles will be held in-person on Saturday, May 4th from 9:30AM-5:30PM at KingsWay Community Church (14111 Sovereign Grace Dr, Midlothian, VA 23114) with the older students. Additional callbacks may be held on Sunday, May 5th from 2-9PM if needed. The girls may not be needed for the entire time, and we will send out any updates prior to the day. Thank you again!

We will be casting three younger students as the child roles (Gavroche, Young Cosette, and Young Eponine) in Les Misérables: School Edition for CharacterWorks Master Camp 2024. If you wish to be considered for one of these roles, the schedule and audition information is below.

Performers in these roles will be required to attend all tech rehearsals and performances (July 22-28), as well as several other rehearsal dates during weeks 0 and 1 of camp (specific dates to be scheduled at a later date). These students will be required to pay the camp production fee of $375 (but not the camp registration fee) to participate in the show. Please check the Masters Camp Daily Schedule and be sure you are available for camp rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and performance dates.  

All students interested in auditioning for a young role in Les Misérables: School Edition must submit a video of the songs provided below. Students must use the accompaniment tracks and may not sing a capella. Submissions can be made here (see audition materials at the bottom of this page) and must be submitted no later than March 1st at 5PM.

• Boys (auditioning for Gavroche): Submit a video of yourself performing the provided cut of "Little People" and "Beggars."
• Girls (auditioning for Young Cosette and/or Young Eponine): Submit a video of yourself performing the provided cut of "Castle on a Cloud."

In order to accommodate students interested in auditioning for both Les Misérables: School Edition and Peter Pan JR. (CWorks Show Camp 2024), but only able to participate in one, we have updated our youth audition plan. Important dates and information are below.  

Audition Video Submissions (Boys AND Girls): Due March 1st by 5PM
Callback List Posted: March 8th at 5PM on the CharacterWorks website homepage (cworkstheater.org)
Callbacks: March 11th, 6:30-9PM at Kingsway Community Church
Gavroche Cast & Girls Final Callback List: March 24th at 5pm.
Second Callback for Girls: May 4th or 5th at Kingsway Community Church

The student cast as Gavroche will be allowed to withdraw from Peter Pan JR. Show Camp with a full refund if he would like to do so after Gavroche has been cast. Girls signed up for Peter Pan JR. and invited to the final callback will need to let us know if you are interested in both, or if you want to be removed from Peter Pan JR. if you receive one of the two young girl roles. If we cast a girl in one of the Les Misérables: School Edition roles that does not want to be cast in both shows, we will not include her in the Peter Pan JR. cast and will allow her to withdraw from Peter Pan JR. show camp with a full refund.  

PLEASE NOTE: If you want to be in both Peter Pan JR. and a young role in Les Misérables: School Edition, you are allowed to do both if you are cast in Les Mis. These audition schedule updates have been made to accommodate those who do not wish to participate in both if cast in Les Mis.
